BLD PWR x BAJI Announce WAGBT "Who All Gon' Be There" Bus Tour to Mobilize Voter Registration for the 2024 Election

Kendrick Sampson joins forces with BLD PWR and BAJI for a national “Who All Gon’ Be There” bus tour to inspire voter registration through culture, music, and community power ahead of the 2024 elections.

Los Angeles, CA (September 23, 2024) – BLD PWR, in collaboration with Kendrick Sampson and the Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI), is proud to announce the Who All Gon' Be There (WAGBT) Bus Tour, a nationwide celebration to amplify voter registration and civic engagement leading up to the pivotal 2024 elections. This innovative "Roll to the Polls" tour aims to infuse the voting process with joy, ancestral culture, and communal energy, inspiring marginalized communities to use their political power.

Kendrick Sampson, the acclaimed actor, activist, and BLD PWR founder, is using this moment to elevate underrepresented voices in key cities like Houston, Miami, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. "As we approach an election that will shape the future of this country, it's more important than ever to engage communities that are often left behind," said Sampson. "This tour is about educating, inspiring, and registering voters so that we can all play a role in shaping our democracy."

The WAGBT Bus Tour will roll through each city like a traveling celebration—engaging young voters, communities of color, and activists with good energy, dance, and the shared goal of securing meaningful policies that uplift marginalized communities. As Kendrick notes, "The power isn’t in the politician, it’s not in the politics—it’s in the people. More people means more power." The tour aims to not only mobilize voters but also recognize and celebrate the strength of these communities as they exercise their power.

Who All Gon' Be There?
The tour will offer a unique mix of spontaneous performances, celebrity appearances from the BLD PWR community, and strategic voter registration through QR codes placed on LED trucks, ensuring high engagement at major cultural events. You never know who’s going to pop up on the bus to party with the community!

“We know we can’t vote our way to freedom, but if we are strategic with our vote, especially locally, we can influence the way power is used or abused,” said Sampson. "We must use this vote to show our desire to secure reparations, healing, care, and protection from harm for our communities. WE have to make them recognize our power.”

Nana Gyamfi, Executive Director of BAJI and President of BAJI Action, emphasized the collaborative spirit behind this movement: “BAJI and BAJI Action are excited to join BLD PWR and our partners in this joyful and meaningful community power-flexing Roll to the Polls tour coming to a city near you! As we see efforts to roll back progress on protecting Black folks from dehumanizing criminalization and immigration policies, we know we can depend on our Diasporic communities to build a world where all Black people and the planet are thriving."

Call for Volunteers: BLD PWR and BAJI are inviting volunteers to join the movement by signing up to assist at various tour stops. Volunteers will help with voter registration, community engagement, and other essential event tasks. Sign up here.
